Detailed description of Coyote Creek Golf Club

Coyote Creek Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Bartonville, Illinois.

The Coyote Creek Golf Club golf course first opened for play in 2001. This Bruce Borland Signature Course was designed by Bruce, Richard Jacobson, and Chris Cochran.

Coyote Creek Golf Club has rolling fairways that are tree lined and lead to generous but challenging greens that are well bunkered. The course is highlighted by numerous lakes and creeks, which feature stone bridges and waterfalls. There is a large practice area with several target greens adjacent to the clubhouse.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6701 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4769 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 589 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 141 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 2, a 435 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Coyote Creek Golf Club is # 15, a 375 yard par-4.

Bruce Borland was killed in the 1999 plane crash that also claimed the life of professional golfer Payne Stewart. Bruce was raised in the Peoria, Illinois area.

Bruce graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with a degree in Landscape Architecture, moved to Chicago area and began designing golf courses for several firms. In 1989, he opened his own design firm, ProDesign.

At the time of Bruce's death, many outside of the golfing circle had no knowledge of the significance, sacrifice and generosity that the Bartonville native brought with him on that fateful day. Bruce made four visits to Coyote Creek before his death and was scheduled for another visit the day after the plane crashed. Coyote Creek was his first signature course -the pinnacle of any golf course architect's career - designed in his own backyard. Bruce Borland has left an indelible mark upon the landscape of central Illinois through Coyote Creek Golf Course and on the hearts of his family, friends and others he touched during his 40 years he shared his life with us.

Great layout. Wonderfully designed greens and bunkers. Put the driver away. The majority of the holes are short and tight so a well placed 3 wood is necessary in most cases off the tees. Greens are very slick with multiple tiers. Everything here is bent except the fairways which are a blend between Kentucky Blue Grass and Rye. Golf clap for the maintenance crew at Coyote Creek. This course would be a BIT*%$%$%$&$ to maintain. Several greens are surrounded by trees that minimize airflow and increase soil temperature. Also sloped around greens and bunkers so several spots require the push mower. overall A

Laid out beautifully with hills, valleys, creeks, lakes, and a waterfall. A great place to spend a day. The skill required to play Coyote Creek is finesse, not distance, because of the narrow, but meticulously-kept fairways.

Would travel: 60-120 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
